I'm thinking I might pop down to my local grocery store or butcher and see if I can't get a few nice waxworm fillets for the weekend...

I just bought a 1oz mackerel filet for $3.00.
It's a pre-packaged cat treat from Pet Smart.
I'm sure my cat will love it, but it was more to take a poke at Mrs P.
She claims I spoil my cat so I asked her how she figured buying $48.00 per pound treats was spoiling him.
I won't post her answer.

Question for you, Bob.
All joking aside; what do you think of the Big Green Egg grills? We have a dealer here and he's a long time acquaintance, so I can get a pretty good deal on whatever size I want.
No joking, so I won't ask if it's for boiled ribs.
Kamado grills are nice, but to me they're a bit fiddly, and a lot pricey, compared to Weber smokers strictly for bbq speaking. You can grill on a Weber smoker, but then they get fiddly.
Versatility is one of the kamado's strong points, low and slow for bbq, or hot and fast for grilling steaks, etc.
I still use my Weber kettle for most all of my grilling. My big black egg was half off, $300, or I would not own one.
IMO, unless you really want to get into outdoor cooking, it's a pretty big expense unless you think that's what you want to do.
You could cut back on the expensive cat treats to save up for one though.

Thanks, Bob.
I'm likely to do more grilling than low and slow. I may look into a smallish one.
For the record; I may boil ribs, but I refuse to buy a gas grill. I have standards, you know!

St Louis cut pork spare ribs are going on the big black egg shortly for a long low and slow smoke cook.
It's the only way ribs should ever be cooked.

Want one

OK. That would go down really well with some Salmiakki Kossu...

Watch the clearance listings at the local grocer. You should be able to get 4.5oz tins of sardines for less than a buck.

Cats go nuts over that stuff. Almost like catnip.

You're welcome, Jim. No charcoal, no glory, right?
Not sure what you grill on now, but the egg is not going to grill food much better, if any, than an inexpensive Weber.
Most all of my grilling is on the kettle, but I do like the ceramic for barbecuing (low and slow).

Spare ribs are done after 5.5 hours with cherry wood for smoke.

Wow... what diameter is your Weber, Bob?? I'm guessing the versions I've seen here in the UK were very small and low-end models...

These people clearly have never known the joy of a shower with the head on a flexible hose.

Some years ago, in a different home, I had a bidet installed in the family bathroom. It quickly became the least-used item in the house. Basic cleanliness and regular showering, for me, negated its value... Though, I'll be frank, I kind of enjoyed the sensation of using it... except on cold days

Mike, the rib pic is with my kamado, it has an 18" diameter grate, my kettle has a 22" grate.
It's crazy but the UK has Weber grills in colors that we can't get here in the USA, as well as different models and accessories
They do come with a higher price.

We had a lovely weekend away. (Happy belated birthday, Mike!)

Dinner, Saturday night was at Monsoon Poon. I had the sticky pork belly with a chilli caramel glaze & Asian black vinegar, topped with a Chinese cabbage, apple, mint & coriander slaw, with a side serving of coconut rice.

The place seems to have had some special guests over the years.

On Sunday, we had lunch at a very nice spot, St Johns Bar and Restaurant. Excuse the sideways phone photo.

Annie had the pan seared salmon salsa verde with crispy skin and a roast beetroot, parsnip, carrots, rocket, herbs & aged balsamic salad, while I had the aged angus sirloin with porcini butter and jus, as well as gourmet potatoes slow egg, celery and salsa verde warm salad.
