Can't help but share a little grandparent pride.
Our granddaughter graduated from college today, and grandson graduates from high school tomorrow.
So proud of both of them.
That's awesome, Bob. You are rightly proud. And, may I say, what good looking kids... Great photo, too. One of yours?

Thank you!
They live in Colorado, and sadly we couldn't make it out for the graduations.
The photo was from a FB post, I'm sure using a cellphone, and most likely an iPhone.

But I'm not everyone.

Have not seen it or read any of the book either.
We are not everyone.

Now there are two of us.

Careful, if we get too many, then we will be everyone.

You have every reason to be proud, Bob. And even if they've inherited Grandpa's good looks they seem to have missed his grumpiness

I remember, years back, as a kid, my Dad gave a ride to a hitch-hiker... He was a US Army guy stationed over here, and on his way up to Scotland (if I recall the story correctly, it was to see a friend or girlfriend). He wanted to get to Musselburgh, which we'd pronounce "Muh-sel-bruh". My Dad was tickled by his pronunciation of "Moose-el-berg"

Our languages are so similar, and yet so different. But, then, even different regions here in the UK (just as in Canada and the US, and - I'd guess - every country in the world) have their own pronunciations and terms... It's one of the things about language that I really love
I love dialects. I've just read about the merger of the vowels in the words "Mary", "marry", and "merry" in most North American dialects. It seems quite a number of people would say "hurry" rhymes with "furry", too. Fascinating.

Yes, some would call me a nerd

Hurry does rhyme with furry, but not with fury.

I'm getting really tired of this weather.
I'm considering moving to someplace where it doesn't rain as often; like the Olympic Peninsula, or Florida.

I'm sure I do that too, never thought about it before.
Lidia Bastianich, an Italian/American celebrity chef on PBS, pronounces rosemary, rosemarie.
(just looked her up for the name spelling, she's 18 days younger than me, for whatever that's worth)

. . . . . . like the Olympic Peninsula, . . . . . . . . .
You can move to Sequim (pronounced "Skwim"), out on the peninsula.

Lowest rainfall in the state. The town is in a rain shadow, sheltered by the Olympic Mountains. Less rain than anywhere in the high desert of Eastern Washington.

And Robby Knievel lives there.

Lidia's is a fascinating story. She came to the US as a refugee in WWII. Her first cooking experiences were as a young girl, in the US, discovering and preparing boxed cake mixes.
