Nope, no slippers or house shoes either.
This is getting a little intimate, isn't it? Does Dan know how you spend you free time?

Oh ye of little imagination. I prefer ballet flats, Mary Janes, sandals, heels, sling backs. For work, good quality walking shoes. I typically don't spend less than $100 for a pair of work shoes. I spend 13.5 hours in them. They *have* to be comfortable.

Dan is my son. Not my husband. Jon is my husband. My userid came about shortly after Daniel was born & I joined my first bulletin board. A group of preemie moms on iVillage. I needed a userid, but I wasn't ready to be "danielsmommy" or something else like that. I was young & scared. I had a baby that had gotten here far too soon & the future was far too uncertain. Amy is short for my actual given name. Only people that I love call me that IRL. My game friends all call me Maya after my main character name.

And now, you know all about my dissociative identity!

Those look comfortable! I doubt they're supportive enough to walk 12 hours in. But we often kick off the good shoes at about 1am.

So now it has come to this has it?

The hociR discussion is now about shoes?

Well I get Danner boots, made in Portland, Oregon. Nothing but the best American made footwear for my dogs.

And in the house Mrs. Racer and I do not wear shoes from the outside world, and we also ask our guests to remove their footwear. We use slippers or go barefoot in our home, much like the Japanese.

And Amy I can relate to getting the correct footwear for work. During my 30 years working on trucks and heavy equipment at the power company, I spent long hours on hard concrete. If I chimped out on work boots my feet, legs and back suffered.

No imagination you say? I beg to differ. These look pretty much like my favorite sneakers, and yes, I wear them in public.

http://img0.etsystatic.com/000/0/5504389/il_fullxfull.280075220.jpg?

I have a green t-shirt that says "Wicked" in purple glitter that my nieces made for me and I have long green and white striped socks that I wear with them sometimes. The adults I meet usually think I'm way too eccentric for words but the kids get it and most of them just grin from ear to ear when they see them. I got told years ago that my style of casual clothing was a grand mix of Victorian steampunk, biker chic, and Oz and I took it to heart. I quite deliberately play with it now just to mess with people who have no sense of humor whatsoever.

I've been considered "odd" for most of my life I figure I might as well enjoy it, you know? People are going to think I'm strange no matter what I wear so I figure why not wear what I like and makes me laugh? If I make it to 70 I'm going to be a flaming orange haired old crone who strides into a room wearing glitter cat glasses, a terribly rude shirt, a chic pair of black lace gloves, a black leather mini, witch socks and ruby combat boots looking like she came in flying on a broom or maybe a Harley....

You know kind of like this one:

I laughed so hard when I saw Frances Conroy in AHS Coven. She is so effin fabulous she just shines and that character Myrtle and I? We are such soul sisters in so many ways it's not even funny. I want to look like her when I am her age. I really do!

Captioned "House shoes for PedNurses" - the White was a stab at humor. My girls swear by them.
