Oh, by the way Mike! You do realise that a magnetron is really a pretty robust valve / vacuum tube? So, yes, every modern microwave oven has, at its heart, a valve!
You gave it away?

But you could have had so much fun with it!

I'm considering one of these when we get settled in the new flat. It can even mop.

Yes, and not everybody has a country as their follower! Ok, not officially a country, but still...

A Xiaomi, but yes, Roomba led the way. It maps out the house for you so it can optimise its pattern and work more quickly. It automatically increases suction power when it vacums carpets. You can program no-go zones. And you can, as mentioned, add a mop and fill a water tank to have it wipe your floors.

All controlled from your smartass phone, of course.

I think I want one. A friend of mine is very happy with his.

Or rather, he's very happy with his girlfriend's Xiaomi. It was a present. From him.

They're still together.

A neighbor has two.

One roams his house, scarfing up dust, dirt and crumbs.

The other cruises his garage and workshop, keeping an epoxy coated floor shiny and clean.

Friends of ours had one. Very expensive one. It kept getting stuck under low furniture.

Yes, I don't have any problems with that part of giving it away. The problem is with you giving it away in the first place.

That’s right, just look at me.

I’ll have to photograph the scars I have from burning my right arm while playing around with the black gunpowder used in muzzle loading firearms.

Yeah, I like to blow stuff up.

But I survived a very bad “accident” back in 1983 or so, and actually learned some respect for the **** I like to play with. I had 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my entire right arm, face, and the front and right side of my torso. The explosion burned off most of my beard, hair, eyebrows and eyelashes.

I even had burns in my mouth and nasal passages.

One will suffice for me. I can live with having to carry it upstairs every now and then.

I think.

It can make and keep multiple maps so it'll know which floor it is on.

But it still can't climb stairs. Maybe down, once, but not up.

Then they should tell it not to go there. Or get rid of the low furniture.

Or get rid of the little sucker and hire a maid, of course, but that is way more expensive.

They tried that. It still tried to commit harakiri under the couch. Several times. So they gave up and gave it to their daughter.

In another life. As I get older, I seem slightly less adventurous.

Ouch. Well, yes, things going boom can sometimes go a bit much boom. I guess I have had more luck than I deserve on a couple of occasions. And nothing has gone as bad as your 1983 incident! I guess the closest has been shrapnel, both steel and glass, going rather further than expected. But boom it went.

These days I mostly stick to shooting things up rather than blowing them up. A bit safer.

But a ray gun does look like fun
