I do have a very nice USA flag. Embroidered stars and stitched, like this:
That is the only kind of flag. Stitched up, just like Betsy Ross did it.

Not some cheap printed on muslin junk made in China.

Enjoy your extended weekend! I had mine this previous weekend. And yeah, covering for people on vacation sucks big time - but it's that time of year. Good thing the general tempo goes down a bit when one has to cover more ground...

Hope your wrinkle isn't of the "big wrinkle on the backside" kind

You should get in first and book your leave before everyone else does theirs.

Ironic when people would get copies of their national flag, made in China.

That's okay, I pay them all back by taking vacation in the winter; when it is really really busy

Mine are always proudly made in the USA, including the poles.
The last one was nylon, it faded too fast and the wind was always wrapping it around the pole.
I have three that need to be taken to our local VFW for proper disposal.

How does the VFW dispose of them?

I'm sure by burning them with a proper ceremony. Scouts and the American Legion also offer this service.
I could burn them myself, but it's kind of involved.

"1. The flag should be folded in its customary manner.

2. It is important that the fire be fairly large and of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag.

3. Place the flag on the fire.

4. The individual(s) can come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a brief period of silent reflection.

5. After the flag is completely consumed, the fire should then be safely extinguished and the ashes buried.

6. Please make sure you are conforming to local/state fire codes or ordinances."

I, ehm ... I can't say I understand the importance our American friends place on flags, or why old ones shouldn't just go into the litter bin? I mean, it's a piece of cloth, not grandmas ashes?

See how great our flag is, it brought you out of hiding.
This says it better than I can:
"Our flag has become a symbol above politics. It is the symbol of that which unites us," says John Hartvigsen, the president of the North American Vexillological Association (NAVA). Vexillology is the study of flags, something that Hartvigsen has been doing with NAVA for the past 48 years. "It's very important for us to find what unites us."

The desire, the fervent need to find unity in a country that doesn't have a monarch to rally around has been present since the American revolution, Hartvigsen says, and has been reinforced throughout American history. Certainly since the Civil War, Americans have looked to the flag to remind us that we are one nation despite our differences, despite our hardships."

Right, and the third digit of each hand is just a finger so why would anyone be offended by it if unceremoniously displayed to them?

As I've stated before, I'm as dumb as a box of rocks, I thought citizens of most all countries paid reverence to their country's flag.

Practically grandma's ashes.

The ashes of Betsy Ross.

Me too.

Like our British friends and their Union Jack.

And I have seen plenty of German flags sported at athletic competitions and the Olympics, and there are lots of German race car drivers who proudly have their national flag next to their name on the car.

Like this gentleman, who is an ace behind the wheel of every car he climbs into.

And this son of a legend, who became quite successful himself.

And one of the greatest drivers ever, at Portland, Oregon.
