I was with you racer until you showed the mid 1970's Mustang. American automobiles died in 1973 and it took several years to breathe life back into them. The Pinto got to me too, but those critters were monsters in the snow. Just kept chugging.

Sadly my boys are all out of sorts when it comes to automobiles. I showed them a photo of my 1974 AMC Hornet Hatchback and they were "Wow! Cool looking car." What I remember most about it was that the steering wheel took 6 1/2 rotations to go from stop to stop and the alternator had to be replaced every 15,000 miles. About the same interval as a tune up. Good old AMC 232 ci in line six.

It was so bad that I didn't even try to avoid pot holes. Changing lanes required a lot of effort too. But hey it was my first new car and it did cost all of $2,997 in late 1973. The upgraded cloth bucket seat were about the most comfortable seats I ever had in a car. The other option was a positraction rear end. It was a beast in the snow and very stable on ice. I could creep straight ahead while others had to stop because they were slipping all over the place.

I find traction control and anti lock brakes are totally worthless on snow and ice. They have probably caused more accidents than they have prevented in the winter. But I do like those features on dry roads.

You'll have to explain that reference. Not a term we're used to this side of the pond.
She never explained it to me, save to say that's what folks in her family called them. I liked it though, and it stuck with me.

I miss that woman, she was a joy, in every way. One I let get away that I should not have.

About that same time my dad had rounded up 4 or 5 of them, a couple 4 door models, a couple 2 door post models, and a 2 door post wagon. The wagon was my favorite, and I drove it a lot, especially to the drive in movies with that girl.

All that Ford, and not a single picture shot with a K3 means no bacon required.

In fact I may have even single handedly saved Tokyo from the Live Hocir with that post.

Mid 1970's?

No sir.

In order of how I posted them:

A 1967 Mustang Fastback, a survivor, all original.

A 1989 Washington State Patrol police pursuit special.

A 1964 Mustang convertible (posted twice) with a 1966 grille (because the owner likes those grilles better that the 1964 grilles).

A 1968 Mustang GT.

A 2007 Boss 302.

A 1969 Boss 429, a barn find that has been sitting in a barn since the early 1970's.

A 1969 351 Cleveland Mustang.

A 1966 Hertz Mustang GT 350 H.

1968 Shelby GT 350.

The 1964 Mustang Convertible again.

I missed one too, a Mustang Fastback, not sure of the year though.

Wow. I can't believe that I missed that. I saw to big front bumper had an instant nightmarish flashback to 1973 and near death of the American automobile. I managed a gas station then and also rented cars. We got in a bunch of Chevy's Chevelle's with 350ci engines. Top speed was 92 mph and about 12 mpg fuel efficiency. Man those were terrible automobiles. Those air pumps to dilute the exhaust, anemic compression ratios etc.

To me the only 1973 model that actually looked decent was the Monte Carlo.

She may have been referring to these. You fill them up with people and have to tow them around.

Or she may have been referring to something like this

Gang? What gang Bob???
Son and d-in-law were off today so we went up for lunch and a visit, we needed a Bobby fix. Boy is that young man active, and always smiling.
I got to ride in son's, new to him, 2015 Ford King Ranch for the first time. Very nice, but too much truck and gadgets for this old man.
