Yes, it's a children's play house/tree house. Always nice to see a smile on my way to work.

It's probably to tell you that they save the oceans by driving their dinosaur fueled cars around every street of every town in every country around the world for no good reason

Or maybe that some of the areas they take pictures of now will soon be under water - who knows.

At least when I take meaningless images I mostly rely upon my bacon fueled body to propel the camera around.

I like how the Googmobile turns into a stretch limo.
Hah, yes, the Theta is a fun camera that really lets you mess with perspectives.

Umm... Bacon!

It's an Opel of some kind. All these small ones look the same now - and probably are the same in a lot of cases (like the Toyota Aygo that is the same car as the Citroên C1 and the Peugeot 108 - made at the same factory).

I rented a hybrid car once, a Toyota Auris. It was ok to drive in the city, but once we started up into the mountains, not so much. Sure, the power sort of was there, but the rev stayed at 4000+ most of the time. And the thing had a worse mpg than the 1999 Mitsubishi I used to own. My conclusion is that hybrid does not mean more mpg - unless maybe if you only drive in flat country or in cities at slow speed. As long as they combine a too small petrol engine with too small batteries you just end up with the worst of both worlds. I would much rather have a fully electric vehicle now that they start to get decent range out of them. Having full torque right from standstill makes them fun to drive.

First you laugh, then you realise it's too close to the truth for comfort.

Btw, in Iceland they have sequenced almost the entire population. "They" being the private company deCODE (now owned by some US pharma giant, I think). The Icelandic population being very homogeneous makes them very interesting for gene reasearchers.

And there's no room for abuse, I'm sure.

Right?

Nothing like having plenty of power when you need it.

Yep, but even that monster needs some time to reach full torque. Combustion engines can't really compete with electric motors - for that.

Interesting to see the difference in the acceleration curve between a Tesla and "ordinary" 7.0 class cars, with the Tesla being quicker from the start but not having near the same top speed. Of course, the Tesla is a 2,250kg/5,000lb family saloon car so I think it does rather well.

Still, the Tesla would be slowed down once you fit the massive speakers needed to make it sound like a proper car.

Spoke wheels, baseball cards, and clothespins should do the trick.

That would be football (soccer) cards over here, but yeah. Hard to differentiate the sound from that of a V8. Really. It is. If you put your mind to it.

Yes, the Tesla is impressive in it's acceleration.

But.

That is bracket racing.

You pick the time you want to run, the "dial in", and then you want to run a close to that as you can without "breaking out" (going a faster ET than your dial in). The kid with the Tesla was running 7 second dial in, and in the first round broke out. He "bough back in" and went back to it, and made it to the 4th round of eliminations before cutting a red light (he left before the light turned green).

You'll notice the piston engine cars will modulate the throttle as they run down the track, so it isn't a true comparison of acceleration between the Tesla and them.

Now if it was heads up mash the loud pedal and see who runs faster, the Tesla the kid has in this video might not fare so well. If he had the other model of Tesla (the bigger one) he could surely give those piston engine boys run.
