Talking of SUVs, we rented a Toyota Fortuner in South Africa. I'm not sure why they don't market it here, but it's basically th SUV version of the Hilux. Brilliant car, good ground clearance, 18" wheels to tackle the potholes, a decent 2.8 turbo diesel and a 80 litre tank (that's about 20 of the small gallons, 17.5 of the British kind). And being of Hilux lineage it is sure to be the only thing apart from cockroaches to survive WWIII.
Of course, should they ever make an electric version I'm sure they'll call it the e-Supra
