It is quite high. According to timeanddate.com it's about 22° above the horizon at noon at your place. Here it's about 10° now.

BUT we had sun today!! I saw it from my desk at work. Of course, it rose after I got to work and set again before I left. But it was there!
The sun reached an apex of 21 degrees above the Southern horizon today, and is presently about 15 degrees above.

Daylight will last 8hrs 44mins.

Overnight lows around 20 degrees F, highs around 40.

Stay away from the plain if you do......unless you like rain.

NOAA's sun calculator says 38° for my area, and 9 hrs. 43 min. of daylight.
Not to gloat.

I don't know about any degrees over the horizon... all I know is, for the first time in weeks, I actually saw the sun today. The roads and grass around here were still soaked from last night's rain, and glistening in the sun, from morning through early afternoon. Very pretty

I have survived nearly 50 winters here so far, but each year is getting worse. When I was younger I thought the cold was the worst part of winter. Now I mind the cold less - partly because it's less cold here than where I grew up, I guess... but the darkness is getting increasingly hard to bear. My parents spend most of winter in Spain. I think I have to start doing something similar at some point.

But hey, we can expect some cool and clear days now, and even got 10-15cm of snow last night, so it's less dark than the last several weeks have been. So that's something

Reminds me, I should look for the spikes for my shoes - it was a slippery walk to work this morning.
I think it would be nice to go spend the winter in Norway.

Went out ski touring today, in the shade all day long, with wind and -20°c. All in all, ------- cold.

Welcome back, Bertwert - very glad you survived having Mother Nature remind you of the power of moving water... Having had a reminder like that myself, on a much warmer and milder river in Nebraska, I can attest to the sort of stuff going thru your head when you just cannot move against the flow... It’s a very humbling experience. Almost enough to become a Norwegian!
Alright, I'm packing my skis and running away to Norway.

I’m thinking you should count your lucky stars. You survived drowning in the river, then survived injury, possibly even death from a collision with that beer drinking amateur filmographer on the slopes while you played the bagpipes.
