Mrs. Racer and I went out to see a movie this afternoon.

Knives Out, a dramatic comedy whodunnit murder mystery. Very well done, highly rated.

Four thumbs up!
We went to see the latest Star Wars movie a few days ago. (Episode IX) Was surprisingly OK. (The previous one was not.) The later movies are not a patch on the first one, Episode IV, and the follow-ups of that, Episodes V and VI, in my opinion, but IX was better than expected.

Don't you have any non franchice cinemas..?

$ 10 a ticket locally and it even has a rising floor so you can roll the Jaffas down the aisle..

Now that’s a proper dog; no tiny fluffy nonsense, just a gentle nature and stunning speed. Excellent! (whippet fan here)

Tell me about it.

When I was 12, dad would give me 50 cents. I would go to the Saturday matinee at the Navy base theater. Double feature with cartoons in between.

Admission was 10 cents.

Got a beverage, popcorn and a couple candy bars, and still had 20 cents left over.

I think the Star Wars franchise is worn out.

I checked your Golden Cinema, ten bucks for you to see Star Wars, eight bucks for seniors.
Don't y'all barter up there, maybe trade some goat's milk for a ticket?

For the same, here you could go in with a twenty, and then go digging in your wallet for a few coins.

Agreed.

They are very repetitive, and predictable.

Apparently it is only $10. It used to be around $13, which it looks like it still is for 3D movies. And they only recently put in a second screen, when before most things on the single screen were 3D - resulting in the higher ticket price.
For a family to go to the cinema, it's cheaper to buy the movie. Especially if you don't like the cinema experience or 3d movies.

Bah humbug, you lot. They don’t make these films for us old farts, they make ‘em for our children and grandchildren. I greatly enjoyed my youngest son’s enjoyment of Rise of Skywalker. So there.

I have been hearing the same thing on other forums. Not as bad as they thought it would. Especially after the last disaster. This movie had to be heavily redone and may be the most expensive movie in history. I have heard that at the early test screenings reviewers were actually laughing at the movie.

I agree with you that the original three were the best of the bunch. Episode V was definitely the best of the bunch. We will be going to see the latest one soon. The very first Star Wars movie came out the same year (1977) that we had purchased our first house. We were newly married and so broke that we had to scrimp and save for two weeks to purchase tickets. Back then going to MacDonald's was a big night out for us.
