Not Greek, Mark, distance.

1/8th mile is 660 feet, or 0.201168 kilometers, or 201.168 meters.

1/4 mile is 1,320 feet, or 0.402336 kilometers, or 402.336 meters.

English feet or Cape feet? English feet are 304.797344mm and Cape feet are 314.855575mm.

North American feet.

And a statute mile.

Remember, drag racing originated in the US.

No, not even as a tourist. The university I went to is not old at all (founded in 1811, I think). My cache of useless information is mostly from elsewhere, though.
Your University is so old it must be falling down. I graduated from universities founded in: 1869, 1965, 1966, 1991 and 1991. They are young enough they are not falling down and do not cost ridiculous amounts in building maintenance - except to take asbestos out.

When I visit the library of that old place I find most of their students seem to be reading Latin, Greek and classics, despite the famous portraits of people like Isaac Newton hanging on the wall.

I don't think that was the attire to which he was referring.

Someone has to subsidise the students on more worthwhile courses...
