Did a pommy ever invent a stump jump plough?
Now, that was pretty forward thinking!

Or the electric fence! True to form I did not warn my son the first time he peed on the electric fence.

Nowadays you'd probably get locked up for that.

A Rupert Story.™

Back in the mid 1960's we lived on Whidbey Island, dad was in the US Navy, stationed at NAS Whidbey, Ault Field. My buddies and I roamed about the base quite a bit, as back then security wasn't what it is now. One day we were deep inside the base, probably where we shouldn't have been. There was a cyclone security fence, around a highly restricted area, and I knew it was electrified, but no one else did.

We all had to pee, and a couple of the guys decided they were going to do so on the fence. I stood back and watched, as they realized too late the predicament they were suddenly in. Those poor guys got locked in to the fence through the urine stream, squeezing their willies quite hard, probably from the electricity. Only when they ceased peeing were they able to be free from the current.

They were rolling in the grass, screaming in agony.

The rest of us just laughed and laughed.

The electric fence doesn't rate a mention in the list of best Aussie inventions that I saw recently - but neither do the stump jump plough or the combine harvester.
Of interest to everyone who flies (and perhaps everyone who drills and fills daily) no 1 on the list is the black box flight recorder. Others of interest to the drillers and fillers are racecam and the electric drill.

NRK?

I've watched a bunch of NRK videos with Helt Ramm on Youtube. Pretty funny stuff, though it's (mostly) all Norwegian.

Helt Ramm - Funky Fishlegs - YouTube
Yep, NRK. Nicolay Ramm is... how shall we put it... not right in his head. He can be quite entertaining, though.

If you have a VPN service you could probably watch anything from NRK - but it will all be in Norwegian and without any subtexting.

So why do you call cold fried potato slices "chips" when you really mean "crisps", while at the same time you still have "chip shops" where you serve hot fried potato slices called "chips"?

I may be relatively new to this (imaginary, non existant} country but it doesn't make sense to me....

I think Dave is onto something. Or maybe Nicko has been on holiday - or "work" - in Floriduh and seen this water polo team in action.

Please don't tell me that the Dolphins are involved in some land based game or other

Since the TV signal went from analog to digital we get zero off air television. And the satellite lineup doesn't have what looks like a great show.
How about TV through your Internet connection? Everything seems to de net based these days - as if everybody has a high-speed Internet link.

They came out last year and the year before, I think. Old news.

I have yet to figure out how to get broadcast television through my mediocre DSL connection.
