And that assumes you get it. The wife is a doc, and between her and my retirement annuity we get precisely squat. C’est la vie...

Mrs. Racer is retired, oh, and we're not married, so we get treated as individuals.

Neither of us earns enough to be disqualified for the Uncle Sam payout. So we will both get the full payout, should they ever figure it out and send the funds along.

A funeral with no handshakes, no comforting hugs. And a very limited number of attendees, spaced well apart. Strange times. How I miss the ordinary, boring normal. Even in such settings. Especially in such settings.

That truly is a bummer that you make too much money to get a check from Uncle Sam.
Wish I had that problem.

Oh, I don’t consider it a problem. I’m happy that we are not faced with the dire prospects so many are dealing with. While I’d certainly take the money, others need it far worse than we do. I just wish the large health system the wife works for, was doing smarter things with their clinics and staffers. Some of their decisions were made with rationing scarce resources such as N95 masks, but it significantly raised the risks on providers. I pretty much figure it’s not a case of “whether” she gets it, it’s “when”.

Here's how we got color TV

Lucky you, we only had black and white.
This thread moves fast. I think the TV thing is already done and gone, but I'll add my little story anyway.

When I was in high school, my best friend’s younger brother was one of our paperboys. Mom loved to read the paper and had three dailies and a weekly delivered. Later that paperboy, Johnny Cartwright, went on to play quarterback at the Naval Academy. Annie decided she was not going to watch her paperboy play in the Army-Navy game on a black-and-white television. Sure enough, a color TV was in her living room by Thanksgiving Day.

Same here.
It's too bad it can;t be doled out to those more in need.
