That truly is a bummer that you make too much money to get a check from Uncle Sam.
Wish I had that problem.
Look at it this way: he has a bit of privacy from and independence of the said uncle.

If you need social support you need to run in rings to comply with this and that to get it - very bothersome.

Oh, I don’t consider it a problem. I’m happy that we are not faced with the dire prospects so many are dealing with. While I’d certainly take the money, others need it far worse than we do. I just wish the large health system the wife works for, was doing smarter things with their clinics and staffers. Some of their decisions were made with rationing scarce resources such as N95 masks, but it significantly raised the risks on providers. I pretty much figure it’s not a case of “whether” she gets it, it’s “when”.
'When' is bad for her, and then she brings it into the house for everyone else there, such as you, and so multiplies the people for whom it is bad.

Talked to one of my colleagues yesterday who thinks he probably had it a couple of months back, picked up at a work do, at which I was not. He says it made him miserable and tired for a month and hat now he feels to have gotten over it. MrsTim and I had something like it 6 weeks ago.

The story I am hearing from many people is that they have an unusual cold, often which never really develops like a cold, although it makes them miserable, feverish and achy for a few days, and then a week later gets back up and whacks them down for a few more days, and after that there is a two or three week recuperation until they feel they can stay awake for their normal hours and do normal things again. And these are the people who are getting the 'mild' effects so commonly talked about.

When I go, I think this is how I want them to handle my remains.
