Four kids here too. Four was easier than two. By then the older ones help out and they form their own little mob and are not constantly looking to mom and dad for entertainment. Do it all again too. Even with more. Nothing like a house full of chaos. When the last one left the silence was deafening.
We only had two. At the time that was my limit, Annie was keen on three. I'm sorry to admit I was wrong. (That's something you don't hear me say very often.) With one out of the house and the other to leave at the end of this year it would have been good to have more running about. We did talk about adoption as that's the only option remaining now, but adoption is in the seriously too hard basket in NZ.

We do sponsor a few kids through World Vision. Hopefully, that makes a difference to their lives.

My health issue update.
First I want to thank you all for the kind wishes and hope you know how much they're appreciated.

Smoking is a habit I was never able to kick (no lectures please) now it's time to pay the piper. No, not you Bert.
I had been losing weight that I attributed to a few things, but when the fatigue set in I knew I had to get checked out.
A CT scan Friday found a 3 centimeter mass in my left lung. A needle biopsy is being set up that will hopefully provide more info on the type, and how to proceed.
Not wanting to turn this great thread into another doom and gloom thread, I'll only post if I have some positive news to report.
Thanks again for your concerns.
Bob, I'm sure those in the medical profession will help you kick the habit now, so you'll get no lecture from me.

I believe we all will share with you the hope that the bit they found is the only bit and that it turns out to be a thing easily dealt with and that you will come through this well. Again, I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say our thoughts are with you and your family and I hope you'll let us know when you know more.

Echoing the sentiments expressed here. Hope the biopsy goes well and that the medics will have a cunning plan.

Bob, all the best from a fellow smoker who also has trouble kicking that specific habit... I do hope the medical pro's find a path out of this predicament.

The recent news of our dear friend Bob reminded me of the title of one of my (many) favorite albums by one of my (again, many) favorite bands. What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits, by The Doobie Brothers.

The whole album is worth a listen, no matter your musical tastes.

Listen to it here: What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits - YouTube

Hard to pick a favorite track, so a couple I like.

First, for my friend.

This next one always takes me back.

Be well my friends.

All the best Bob.
Don't listen to bagpipe 'music'; it will lead to depression, and that won't help you at all.

Ah, but it can be wonderful when it stops. The relief...

Really sorry about your news, Bob, hoping for a good outcome.

Bob, you know we love you. In a manly way, of course.

You decide what you want to share, of course, but this thread can handle it. We laugh together, we cry together, we save Tokyo together.

Oh yeah, and a word of advice for those who like adding fuel to the fire - pay attention to exactly what kind of fuel you add.

I would have posted this over in the Doom&Gloom section, but I suspect the flames wouldn't be big enough to be noticed

Dude already had a good fire going. Wonder why he felt the need to accelerate it.
