This one was at auction in 2016, with a guide price of $750,000 to $950,000.

Toyota 2000GT for sale - Toyota UK

And from the Wiki: Examples of the 2000GT have sold at auction for as much as US$1,200,000.

Save your dollars, eh?

Is that, "Save your dollars, so you can eventually afford one"?
or "Save your dollars and buy something else, say, a 1991 Corolla (for a couple of bucks)"?

Worst of all was, it was a large commercial enterprise and there was some tense discussions around insurance and liability. In the end, I they reached some deal over the damage but it took some time to sort out. Of course, the car had been absolutely perfect prior to this mishap and it took a lot of work to get it back to perfection again. The hardest thing to find for old cars is often things like fender trim.

I've had the oil change experience too. Since then, I always check before driving off! The other thing I had happen was the brakes "specialists" forgetting to tighten the wheel nuts after replacing the brake shoes. Short distance down the road and I was nearly without two rear wheels. The wheels needed replacing and the studs needed replacing too.
A friend had his Hyundai Santa Fe's brakes serviced. All was well for a short time, until he was driving to a store and one of the front wheels came off . Fortunately he was going in a straight line, slowly so was able to bring it to a stop safely.

I used to re torque my wheels to factory specs with my torque wrench , after I had a service where wheels had been removed. But I'm getting lazy in my old age and now just bring it back to the servicing dealer who retorques the wheels...free of charge.... within 100 kms of the service. I usually watch them , they do it correctly and use the latest Snap-On torque wrench, which is much better than my old Canadian Tire beam style torque wrench.

I am not worthy.

That is an impressive aircraft.

We see an AN124 here a few times a week.
To be fair, there’s only one Mriya ever built; the second example wasn’t finished and now donates spares to the flyer. The crew live a life of vagabonds, flying wherever in the world the next big cargo is to be found. Before Sunday, the last time I saw her she flew into the UK to pick up rescue gear for the Kursk submarine disaster and her approach took her over where I was working. I must have gone outside to see what the noise was and just stood there as she overflew less than a thousand feet up, so close I could only see five engines and so big she looked too slow to stay airborne. Think I picked my jaw up a couple of minutes later.

We see An124s fairly often too.

Didn't Rupert experience something similar, losing a wheel after a service?

Edit: Yep, he did: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/172-pentax-k-3/239325-why-i-wont-buy-k3-...ml#post3527387

I just bought a set of torque sticks to simplify wheel changes.

He did indeed. Losing a wheel is more common than one might think. In fact a song was written about this...think it was sung by Kenny Rogers although I maybe in error. The song title if memory serves me correct..."You picked a fine time to leave me...loose wheel." *

* In the interests of full disclosure I must admit I've used that line before.

I've got a set too. They're still in the box and I haven't tried them. Got them from Princess Auto or Canadian Tire a few years ago. I think I just need to put them on my breaker bar...or maybe socket ratchet. Not sure. I better read the instructions before I try them out.

I had a 1991 Corolla. Not bad. Eventually gave it to someone.

On the issue of motor vehicles: I am not very interested in cars. They're noisy, they pollute the air, they take up a lot of space in cities, and I do not enjoy driving them myself.

But should anyone ever make me drive one, I'd like it to be this one:

Or maybe this one:

Actually, now that I think of it, cars are pretty cool. I stand to the rest of my points though.

Mrs. Racer 2.0 has a 2012 Corolla.

It has a wing.

The newest car in our fleet, it has a little 4 cylinder petrol engine, and a 5 speed manual transmission. Pretty peppy, and gets about 45 miles per gallon.

Did I mention it has a wing?

They can be.

Music to my ears.

The air coming out of a diesel engine today is cleaner than the air going into it.

Avoid the cities.

Horrible places, full of people.

Go to the country, enjoy the wilderness, the sweet air, fresh water, and fewer people.

Yes, fewer people.

That's better.

And the best race tracks are in the country. One in your back yard, I believe. Demonstrated by the master.

I would not mind having Sabine show me the ropes.
