Or maybe this one:

Actually, now that I think of it, cars are pretty cool. I stand to the rest of my points though.
I'd rather like an old Defender. Although, they have terrible electrics and very little leg room if you're 6'2". I'm not sure I'd like a new Defender. Way too much technology in an offroad vehicle.
But, obviously very capable until things go wrong with the machine's brain.

Mrs. Racer 2.0 has a 2012 Corolla.

It has a wing.

The newest car in our fleet, it has a little 4 cylinder petrol engine, and a 5 speed manual transmission. Pretty peppy, and gets about 45 miles per gallon.

Did I mention it has a wing?

If all goes to plan I may post something new on Sunday.

Nice wing! Wonder if adding a wing to my truck would get it out of the 14 mpg range...?

Not many of them running off road, more going to the boutique in Beverly Hills and off to Carmel By The Sea.

Indeed. Now, the old Defender had flat glass all round, because that means, push comes to shove, you can find some glass or plexiglass near anywhere to replace a broken window even in the middle of Africa. The new one - nope.
No more beam axels and it's all fancy independent suspension with airbags and lots and lots to go wrong.

Did I mention - Lots and lots to go wrong? And, because it's a Landrover: Go wrong it will!

Was Mrs Racer’s wing drilled and filled by Mr Racer?
No, I thought not.

Here in Victoria (Aust), we call the fancier 4x4s Toorak tractors.
Toorak is the elitistmost suburb of Melbourne.
Some of them (some!) might get to the snow, but very few would ever see mud or rocks or unsealed roads.

Here's the new Defender getting some real use:

But look at this gimmicy nonsense! Skip to the 15min45s mark and watch from there:

Abilities notwithstanding, the new Defender is one of the ugliest new vehicles on the road. Saw one a couple of weeks ago for the first and it made a lasting impression - like a 100 ton boulder would make to a truck. Ugh.

You can pick out the phoney jeep owners. They buy the Rubicon package with a Warn winch and oversized tires, but not a sign that the vehicle has ever been off road. No Arizona pinstriping on the sides and immaculate tire sidewalls

Landrovers are made by the makers of Tetley tea bags. The tea is a better product.

Don't forget the hi lift jack mounted within easy reach.

In the US, Rodeo Drive tractors, or Beverly Hills tractors.
