Early Tuesday morning I go in for an operation. From what I understand from a lay perspective, it is a ball and socket arthroplasty (shoulder replacement) . It will be my right shoulder and I'm right hand dominant .

It's a surgical procedure in which parts of an arthritic joint are replaced with a prothesis or artificial parts. The normal shoulder is a ball and socket joint. The ball is called the humeral head and the socket is called the glenoid. That is about all I know...and all I want to know. I don't want to know the details. I'll leave that up to the doctors.

So for awhile, during recuperation I will be away from active involvement on the computer.
Best wishes on a positive outcome Les.

As for your return, you can always type one handed. I know, the pain meds will make you feel less like doing much of anything besides sleep, but during your waking moments, check in and let us know how you are.

Mrs. P tried something like that yesterday on her bike on a single-track mountain bike trail.
Not on purpose though. She caught a stump with a pedal. I wasn't there to see it I'm quite certain, based on her condition when she got home I'm sure the routine was not quite so refined as the one in the video and the finale was markedly different.
So how did the bike fare?

The bike was fine.
She is too, except for a few scrapes, bumps, bruises, and gouges. In other words a fairly typical day of riding for her.

I kept thinking she needs a cup or some kind of protection down there.

Les, hope your surgery goes well and you heal fast. Mind you follow your doc’s orders on when to use it! And do your physical therapy too! See ya back sometime.

Thx Racer. I will give typing with my left hand the old college try. Think I'll be in the hospital for a couple-three days then hopefully home to finish the recovery.

Thx. The speedier the better. Apparently I'll be not able to drive for awhile and that will be the first time I've had a gap from behind the wheel or the motorcycle handlebars ......since I got my license back in 1965. My wife will chauffeur me around.

Thx. I'll be sure to follow all my doc's orders. My experience is if I don't, it will lead to problems down the road.

I have a great physiotherapist I've been using his services on and off for 30 + years. He was trained both in Hong Kong and Canada and really knows his stuff.

The only thing I can see wrong with it is that it's too far away to sample some of your upcoming pies.
Too true! But if you want, you can help Robert row his boat over! I'm sure he'll enjoy the company for the journey!

He's been known to flip 'em, so I'll pass.
Maybe he can bring me one on his return trip.
