I skipped the K3. Went from K5 to K1, as I wanted a full frame. In the film days I did a lot of medium format work with my Mamiya TLR (220 Pro f) medium format. I like a bigger sensor.

Still an ASP-C sensor is more than good and a K3 would of been very good.

Although I still find my K5 top notch and I've had that since 2011. I'm not a tech expert, but I find my K5 is really right up there with features, to my mind. Same deal with my K10D, although it is limited in ISO numbers.

I saw the surgeon at noon for a post op meeting. Surgery scar has healed nicely, X-ray show things are progressing and what a before/after difference. Before....bone rubbing against bone, hence lot of pain, after...new ball and joint with nice clearances between joints,..,new joints.

Got the go ahead to do some more of life movements and chores...which is good. Hopefully can drive again by mid November. Looking forward to that as we had a good bit of snow last night and looking forward to how our newer AWD handles the slippier stuff. Wife who was driving, reports that AWD is good on snow /ice.

Think I can handle small, light camera like GR 11, but heavier K1 / K5 with battery grips.....not quite yet.

Thx for asking. I know you have had some surgery over the years also and know all about recovery times.

We really like the idea of a super light-weight solution but a couple things dissuaded us....
  1. No toilet
  2. No AC (important for the dog, if not me, the old dog)
  3. Ability to set up a base camp for a few weeks
  4. Heater for inclement days. If we are on the road for a few months, playing cards or watching a movie on crappy days is a nice option

Anyway, we'll see what happens when purchase time finally comes around.
I had/have the same concerns, did weld together a bracket to hold a 6000 BTU window rattler or a fan and blow into the tent
I was loaded down with roughly 500 pounds of gear so not too heavy, she was thirsty tho.

So, not getting the hociR livE, must buy 89 octane

Be careful, this is a slippery slope, just like buying more lenses. I Started off with Tent Camping, upgraded to a Coleman pop up trailer tent (it had heat and A/C but no toilet), next was a 25' travel trailer, then a gas powered motorhome and last year to a 40' diesel pusher (2 A/C heat pumps, 2 propane furnaces, two toilets, washer and dryer, 4 TVs, full size residential reefer/freezer, satellite dish, etc.) Not exactly roughing it but makes a great base camp for offroading.

Nice rigs. Both motorhome and jeep.

Makes me want to get another trailer / RV again.

Good work and design on that unit.

Just remember that it doesn't stop any quicker than a 2WD.
