Here is the weird part (squirrel experts please chime in) this thing was about 16 to 18 inches long, NOT counting the long skinny tail that had very little hair.
That would be the Norwegian squirrel. It is very common in urban areas.

Mag, somebody is going to buy that K-30. Don't you deserve it more than some nameless, faceless person? Hmmmmmm?

This thing was easily the size of a house cat. It had the gray colors of our normal squirrels. The beast was huge!

o_O.. Finn, thanks! I looked up Ratatoskr and found a reference to "world tree" and "Yggdrasil" => both were mentioned in "Hyperion Cantos" - one of the best Sci-Fi tetralogy, in my opinion; at first I thought these were just random terms/names, now they make sense.

[I have to re-read Hyperion now. Highly recommended, BTW]

Nope. Just clinging to the wall like a Giant tree-frog with fur and a skinny long tail.
I did mention that this thing was huge?

I think this is my third try to paste the image into the message... Maybe the link will work. Here goes.
Would this be the critter?
@ JoelB. Who are you calling ugly and smelly?

You need to link to an image, not a web page.
See here.

This morning around 5:00 am I heard a scratching going on above the finished ceiling in my basement office. Removed one ceiling panel and saw a little, tiny hociR three-lined ground squirrel (AKA chipmunk) rear end as s/he disappeared out a tiny hole in my foundation. Little Alvin had been furiously chewing a hole in a floor joist (to what purpose I don't know, but he might have read the squirrel blog from Rupert's Jeep wire's).

Now I've had mice and I've had bugs and once I even had a rat - but I've never had any kind of squirrels in my house. The exterminator tells me they're really hard to convince a house isn't the best place on earth to make tunnels once they start.

Tried it again. Still didn't work. Maybe it's something funky with my phone.
