My 2001 Ram has a 24 valve ISB, with the 6 speed manual gearbox. I have gotten as high as 21 mpg with it (but I really have to work at it), and regularly get 16 to 18.

No DPF.

No DOC.

No DEF (urea).

245 hp, 505 ftlbs torque, box stock.

Going racing at Thunderhill some years back with the car, trailer, extra race fuel, tires, tools, etc. and the camper all loaded up and it grossed out at about 21,500lbs.

Got as high as 18mpg on that trip, and it had no trouble with the mountains in Southern Oregon and Northern California.

Just passed 125,000 miles. Still has the original brake linings (front and rear), on the second set of tires. Changed the oil and filter every 5,000 miles (I know the manual says every 7,500 miles, but hey, oil is cheap!). Replaced the accessory drive belt at 100,000 and placed the original in the "spares" kit. One of the headlight bulbs went out at about 75,000 miles, all the other lighting is original.

This should be the last pickup I ever buy.

Kind of like the K5IIs.
They don't build em like they used to. Mine has 21,000 on it and I've replaced both batteries and the ball joints.

Ball joints bad at 21K? That registers about a 8.5 on the mirror-flop scale.

I had a Corolla that had front wheel bearing fail at 36000km - out of warranty but long before it should have. Toyota fixed it for me, no charge, a later fixed the other one. Seems there was a known manufacturing defect.

That Corolla used up batteries real fast (about 18 months per battery). They got coked under the bonnet and the sulphates shorted the plates.

I will not buy a K-3, a K-5, a K-500, a K-50, or a KS-1. I'm not a medium format person so obviously the 645 D and Z are out. The K5-II I did consider but did not get in the end as I liked the K-30 better and it was quite a bit less expensive. I did not consider the K-r. The K-01, definitely nope. Ditto the Q series though I think it's okay for what it is. You all know I did get a K-30 and would and probably will get another. So since the intro of the K-x, out of all the cameras that they have introduced only two even vaguely appealed to me and there's only one I've actually bought.

I joke about owning a small fleet of K-30's but at the rate they are going it may not end up being much of a a joke. I just don't like the form of what Pentax-Ricoh has made for quite a while now. The innards of the cameras I have no problems with but if the KS-1 is any indication of where they are going design-wise I'll be buying those K-30's as I can afford them and skipping anything else I think.

The KS-1 is the K-01 redux for me. I know they are two very different types of cameras but the instinctive reaction was the same, UGH, and FYI, it's not getting any better with time here. No way. If I wanted a camera that looked like a cheap boxy plastic gamer's computer case that would definitely be it, I suppose, but actually, I DON'T. I don't care how many MP's it has. That camera is just plain FUGLY, IMHO. No, no way, not ever, not even if they offered me one on a silver platter, dipped in real platinum, blinged with real diamonds, and fully engraved with my name in script...:P

Then again I'm not too impressed with the Olympus E-PL7 thus far either so it's not just Pentax that's making me go "Hmmmmm, okkkkkay, uh NOOOO...." LOL

Ah, that would be the K-1.5, then? I bet nobody saw that one coming!

Is it a half frame? Or full-and-a-half?

No worries - I am living proof you can spend your life confused (and with a frequently hurting brain)...

But I am going to go out and give another try for catching a salmon from the kayak, because the Chinooks and Cohos are finally hitting the area and I would much rather be doing that than sitting in front of a computer working. Or being at work reading about bacon and lutefisk and other delicacies... So I'll be too busy chasing fish to buy a K-3!

From hociR's FB page for TBT ... pretty cool. "Paris through Pentax" ...

DesignTAXI - Interstital Advertisement

Now going to blow my camera budget on a 67 in order to imitate; thus, that's why I'm not buying a K-3!

Surely, 10k is not the goal, just a milestone along the road!

Indeed! I believe the next milestone is 100k before we greet 2015.

That is actually a cool video. Every time I see a 67 or even 645 I can feel the glory of personal bankruptcy drawing nearer.

No such worry with a K-3!

Umm...

Tokyo is doomed?

May be a bit ambitious, but becoming the highest post count thread sometime before we wave bye-bye to 2015 should be doable. There are only two or three ahead of us.
