May be a bit ambitious, but becoming the highest post count thread sometime before we wave bye-bye to 2015 should be doable. There are only two or three ahead of us.

One more post closer! 10K is agoal, but nothing says we can't move the goalposts once we get there. As long as the world has bacon and lutefisk, there will be hope. Unless you are Tokyo, of course.

They don't build em like they used to. Mine has 21,000 on it and I've replaced both batteries and the ball joints.
Oh!

That reminds me!

I did have to replace the OEM batteries a couple years ago. They were 11 years old, and one day I went out to start it and nothing. So I jump started it and took off. After a nice drive I figured it should have charged enough to wake them up, after all, when I was still a truck driver the pickup sat a lot.

Well after the drive I shut it off, and about 15 minutes later it refused to roll over.

After another jump start my next stop was the local battery shop!

Another step towards 10K, just to get it over with. Then back to our usual fare.

I would never make it down the street here with a 10K camera. I have enough trouble avoiding getting mugged just carrying my K-30 and P-3's around. 645D? They'd mug me in 10 seconds flat and head straight for Ebay. I'm sitting here this weekend blinging up my P-3's just to make them far less attractive to would be thieves. It's pretty hard to resell a camera that every cop for 100 miles can spot immediately as stolen goods and that would take days to strip back to sell worthy condition, grin.

Not that I make it easy otherwise. My new bags and their inserts are set up with a removable customizable security insert system I'm working on developing. You cannot slash them open. You cannot slash one of my bag or camera straps off my shoulders and grab my camera that way, at least not without seriously hurting me and likely getting caught in the process because it would take them that long just to get it off me. They wave a gun in my face they might get it, but otherwise? Not likely. I have made it as physically difficult as possible for someone to just grab and snatch my gear.

My one teacher was over here the other day. He was doing a shoot here and he stopped to say "Hi!" I was working on my new bag and on sewing up the parts, and he just thought it was the neatest thing what I'd come up with. He suggested I patent them and put a few of them on Etsy to see what might happen. I'm thinking about it because it didn't cost me much to make and I think I might be able to make some $$$ selling them, though I'd definitely want a factory to do it if I was going to mass produce them. But the whole reason I don't own anything that expensive is I wouldn't keep if for very long here if I did. I can't walk around with a 1K set up here and not worry about it being grabbed...

No, no, no, you've got it the wrong way around. It's called the K10D. No problem making it down the street with one. Promise.
