Get back to important stuff - World Cup cricket.

1. India play Pakistan today in Adelaide. There is a prediction it will be very difficult to find a taxi.

2. England vs Australia at MCG (Melbourne, for the ...). Last ball played. Bowler bowled, towards the stumps being defended by the batsman on strike (not like baseball pitchers who might throw it at some other fielder). The ball bounced (normal) and the batsman was hit on the pad and proceeded to the outfield, the fielders appealed and the umpire gave 'out'. The batsman then appealed for a video review. And while the fielders were distracted the batsmen attempted a run (this kind of run is allowed, it does not count as scored by either batsman but does increment the team score, called a 'leg bye') but one of the fielders was not distracted by appealing and gathered the ball and threw it towards the stumps where the off-stroke batsman was out of his round. The ball hit while the batsman was still out of his ground and so:
1. The video appeal resulted in Taylor 'not out' for leg before wicket.
2. Then there was a second appeal and a video analysis and the umpire gave Anderson out, for 'run out'.

So in the end, Taylor (strike batsman, not out 98), Anderson out for a few, and England all out, because by then 10 were out, and the game was over, and so Taylor did not get his century in the World Cup opening game for his team.

Tim, it was a bit of a farce actually: what happened to the dead ball rule? Taylor tried for the run and when it didn't work out he tried to claim 'dead ball'! This won't mean much to our septic friends, but it should keep the commentariat going for a while

It was most bizarre as a way to end a game.

It did not affect the game result - in terms of who won. Too bad it happened in the World Cup.

We could start a conspiracy theory: a, not named here, bookmaker was involved.

Oh, great, we're back to cricket ...

In other news, Bayern trashed Hamburg 8:0 today. There's no end to the Bavarian supremacy, and the rest of the country HATES it.

I suppose it all depends on what part of the Fox you are biting and how hard
