I partially agree with you in this regard. I tell myself so long as they maintain the K-mount - good. What difference should it make? And, we have to recall that Ricoh seems to be intent on preserving and enhancing the Pentax line. OTOH, name brand recognition is a very precious thing in the marketplace and companies go to great lengths to build and preserve a name. In cameras, Pentax has it, Ricoh does not. So they would be utterly foolish to try to overtake or subvert the Pentax name, IMHO. K-mount or no, I might actually feel a little "different" about a camera that was "Ricoh" only or "Ricoh" brand dominant. Ricoh makes great copiers, by the way. We have few at work and they are great. So I associate Ricoh with "great copiers" but not "great cameras". I associate Pentax with "Great cameras". I am only one person, but if there are enough people that think the way I do, there is market power in maintaining the Pentax name as primary, and preferably only name.
