I see you a bunny with a waffle on its head, and I raise you one breaded cat.

There was also some nice photos of old Pentax cameras.
My mistake, there were some nice old Pentax cameras here!

I will also add the Breaded Cat as a worthwhile view!

Regards!

NUUMI in Fremont, CA now hosts Tesla

Fremont, California, actually. Now it's the Tesla factory - part of it is, at least.
Good catch. I was about to correct monochrome. You beat me to it I turned down an offer for Tesla few years ago when they were little known. How I wish I shouldnt have . Especially at moments like release of K-3

When you buy a company, it's your prerogative to have your name put on their products. HP did the same with Palm's phones.

I partially agree with you in this regard. I tell myself so long as they maintain the K-mount - good. What difference should it make? And, we have to recall that Ricoh seems to be intent on preserving and enhancing the Pentax line. OTOH, name brand recognition is a very precious thing in the marketplace and companies go to great lengths to build and preserve a name. In cameras, Pentax has it, Ricoh does not. So they would be utterly foolish to try to overtake or subvert the Pentax name, IMHO. K-mount or no, I might actually feel a little "different" about a camera that was "Ricoh" only or "Ricoh" brand dominant. Ricoh makes great copiers, by the way. We have few at work and they are great. So I associate Ricoh with "great copiers" but not "great cameras". I associate Pentax with "Great cameras". I am only one person, but if there are enough people that think the way I do, there is market power in maintaining the Pentax name as primary, and preferably only name.

If you guys want the K3 to be a success, you better get out there and get a squirrel shot with a K3 and post it here! I'd do it myself if I had a K3 and wasn't laid up with a broken foot, but that won't stop you guys!

Squirrels have magical and mystical powers, in particular that Devil Squirrel....and they are out there in the Woods of Otis waiting for a K3 squirrel shot. Don't make them wait too long or your K3 my be the first to suffer a serious malfunction.

Regards!

Otis wanted me to add this........"This ain't no joke!"

Let this thread sink where it belongs

I only comment because it's still near the top but really why should so many people care that one person has some weird anti Ricoh bias. Gear should be looked at on it's own merits not what's silk screened on it. The K3 is a beast and would still be if it was a Canon or Nikon or Olympus.

I wonder what the OP would think if he knew his single comment caused 26 pages of replies

But yes maybe it is time for this to die a natural death. My k-3 is scheduled for Monday delivery so after that I think I will be too busy to care about why anyone would not buy one...

Idk, I think it might be interesting for this thread to live on, at least in the shadows. In time, when we have begun to realize the K-3's place in Pentax history, or even in APS-C DSLR history, it might be interesting to see what people continue to give as reasons for not buying it. I can see some entertainment value there.

You need to get out more. Ricoh makes great cameras too.

...and it is only near the top because of people like me who get perverse pleasure out of dragging it on. The whole premise is so ridiculous. I laugh every time I post here.
