In the 70's when I was just starting to do weddings, etc., it was frowned upon in Los Angeles to use 35mm for them, even if it said Nikon or Canon on the label. I found a lot of closed doors then. A mentor told me to get a used Hasselblad 500c and three lenses and a flash. He also told me to get an old Rollei TLR for shooting over the heads of guests at events. Those two names opened doors like magic then. Nowadays I don't know if anyone looks at the equipment, or just the results?? I did some weddings in New Mexico in the last few years and no one there seemed to care, but that was a little town.

Yep. That puny little 24x36 image area of the 35mm was for hobbyists and novices. Great for snap-shots, but not much of anything else.

I really miss my medium format cameras for IQ, but not for size and weight. In all honesty, the Pentax k5 and above make astonishing photographs, and I have seen them blown up to 20x30 inch with quality that I only saw with MF in years of old. I have my prints done at Adorama in NYC, and could not be happier.

When I first got my Singlex TLS, I pronounced it the same as Spanish for "rich". It was only when I bought my XR7 that I was told by the salesperson that I was wrong

I think the name really sounds cool with the appropriate accent. Say...
Do you like my Peen-taks' by Rye'-ko?
(Invert the accent on Pentax and roll the R in Ricoh...very exotic, don't you think?)

Well, to me that sounds like Ric-ko, but Rick-o would be close too.

Given the original Japanese name for the company, spelt リコー or rikou in romaji, the basic pronunciation would be ri-caw .... ugh, trying to explain this is hard lol... the i would be like from igloo, and the ou is from orange but slightly prolonged.
