That's okay, everybody's attempt ultimately failed; Rome, France, England, Spain, Russia, and eventually so will ours.

I really don't want to sand down the bases on all my M42 lenses. Rumor has it that the K3 suffers from the same M-mode glitch that has plagued the K-30/K-50 and K-01 crowd.

Wait . . . Ricoh owns Pentax?

Yeah. I think there was a post about it somewhere a while back.

Awww. c'mon! You're pulling my leg! Next you'll be telling me that some third party staged a hostile takeover of Pentax years ago, and Ricoh acquired the camera division for a song because this mysterious "third party" wasn't interested in the camera business.

DISCLAIMER: Don't try this at home!

My wife and I were fighting arguing discussing something and she finally admitted that I was right but she couldn't leave it at that. She said "See? That's the difference between us. When I'm wrong, I'll say so." I told her that we were exactly the same. When she's wrong I'll say so too.

Like I said, don't try this at home................ or anywhere else.

I'm not sure what adjective goes in front, but believe me, it was an error.

I wouldn't be surprised to find they've redrawn the backward-compatibility line at K-mount. Many have emailed their technical people observations about this inconvenience, beginning with the K-01. A few have receive appreciative replies and requests for further info.

Responses disappear into some kind of programmer hellhole, I guess.

The weird part is that the support page for the K-30 with M42 lenses makes like everything is OK. Meanwhile we get one or two threads per week of people complaining that M-mode does not work with M42 lenses with their K-30/K-50/K-01 and now K-3. I wish they would provide a firmware solution.

Just for fun; here are the top 5 threads (by post count) in the K-3 Forum:

EDIT: I would like to point out that the view to post ratio is substantially higher for the threads that are actually relevant to the K-3, photography, and, well, relevant to anything at all.

But The Truth is out there...somewhere...perhaps under the Ricoh logo?
