We had Mac and cheese tonight. I make a fantastic recipe handed down to my Mother from my Grandmother. Creamy and smooth with just a hint of cayenne. When I suggest making it, my son always asks, "Can't we have the real stuff?"
In his honour, we had KD with sliced wieners.

As far as that stuff in gallon jugs and mason jars go...with fancy names as "Apple-pie" "Cherry" and such... I was told by the Boss of the house, two decades ago, to never touch it again and I have not

Oddly, we always keep 4 boxes of that in the pantry on the emergency shelf. In case the power goes out and the only thing we could possibly eat would be packaged mac & cheese. They are great for that, I think the shelf life is something like 75 years.........

And, the gustative value is 1/<shelf-life>, too?

A-HA! I KNEW IT! I just looked up "Kraft Dinner", to see if I could find out what company name is on the back of the box, and I found out it was introduced in the US in 1937 by Grant Leslie of Dundee, Scotland.

I knew "MacIncheese" was a Scots name!

This thread is like a tar pit. Every time some poor soul adds something to the original topic, he is stuck fast and buried by what is really important in life!!! Gives me a warm feeling inside!! Or maybe that's all the cheese I've eaten since Christmas!!

Bob-Evans says "made with real cheese".
The chicken and the pickled eggs are for real for sure.
