...and when I heard it, the question was "what position does she play?"

I spent four days in hospital in April after I got a hip replacement. Breakfast was the worst. How do you turn a perfectly good piece of bread into a slice of latex that looks like it's been fired in a kiln? Luckily, I had my wife down in Ottawa with me as an escort and she smuggled in real food. You need some smugglers, Ted; aren't there any forum members on the banks of the Red?
When my left hip was replaced with New product, food sucked until JD showed during a visit with Tiger Pork, cheese Won Tons and a half pint of Scotch. This therapy had cheese and got me out of there in two days!

Maybe it was the Johnnie Walker Black?

I like to think of it as the folks that don't feel like the highbrow conversations going on in the living room or the loud drunken political debates in the hallway. So they sit around the kitchen table and chat while raiding the trays of cheese sandwiches.
So we had our annual shindig Monday night. As host I had to circulate - Living Room, check. Hallway, check, (You forgot the wallflowers watching television), check.

All the cool kiddie English Majors (of all generations) hung out in the kitchen drinking Crock Pot Whiskey Punch, and I heard, "So - the Past, Present and Future walked into an undergraduate bar. . . . . . . . . . It was Tense.

Past tense, present tense, future tense. Maybe it would have gone over better if he had verbalized it.

How do I explain Whiskey Punch?

Past Tense; Present Tense; Future Tense.

Maybe it was the delivery. Maybe it was the punch. Maybe we're geeks. Everyone laughed.

By coincidence and by invitation of my children there were three English Literature PhD.'s, two PhD. Candidates, a 2nd Year Grad. Student, two BA.'s and I was also in the room (English Language and Literature). Range in age was 23 - 77. I've been hammered here before for referring to "Credentials," (even though I'm the least thereof) so I'm stopping here.

I thought of them, but skipped over them for brevity. Trust me, they're happier that way.

I laughed. What's worse, I heard it a couple weeks ago, and I still laughed.

Monochrome,
A commonly heard colloquialism in this region, "Present tents, past tents, future tents." Dialects are wonderful.
