King James presided over the crowning achievement of English-language literary translation. At the time such was good enough for Anglicans.

The beauty of the English language has declined for the subsequent 402 years.

It's devolved into "text speak".

I'm less upset about text speech than I am over the use of "literally" to mean "figuratively" and "unique" to mean "unusual".

Oh, and the use of double quotes for emphasis, as in:

"Please"
Only one to a customer!

I always read it as sarcasm.

Good to see it's not only me... And I can't understand why some people can't distinguish between your/you're, then/than, there/their/they're.

I suppose it just means I'm getting old.

And that's why I won't buy a K-3.

(And whenever someone points to me making mistakes I shamelessly hide behind the fact that English is not my first language. So there! Or "their"!)

Yes the English language is a screwed up mess!!! Maybe not as bad as having Ricoh on the back of your camera, but a mess just the same!!! Watch British TV for a while and you get used to it. I think their shows are so superior to ours as to make it painful to watch primetime after a while!!!! So I'll put up with the strange(to me) lingo to get the good stuff!!!

P.S. Wars over people!! Were friends now!!!

No, not only you (and your English is better than that of some native speakers...). And I can't understand why some people insist on using an apostrophe to make plural nouns. <sigh>

Actually it was written in Aramaic and Greek if memory serves me well. And translating it into English has been a completely political exercise ever since. You'd think if Aramaic and Greek was good enough for God, it would have been good enough for the English, but clearly, God has no influence in these matters.

I wonder how many people would pay for bibles with Ricoh on the back... or if there admonitions in the bible about not buying any K-3 with Ricoh in on the back.

I won't buy a K-3 because there may be a way of interpreting the bible that would say it's sinful.

I wouldn't!! I don't pay for any now!! I get them all for free!!! Gotta love the internet for free resources!

Now on a serious note, bibles are translated to make it easier for the people to read and to make allowances for changes in language. Unfortunately modern English is not that precise as compared to ancient Greek and this causes issues.

Are you seriously suggesting that the apostrophe does not mean "look out, here comes an s!"??

I mean, "here come's an s!" - it's not only for plurals
