Thank you.

I think.

Having just discovered the epicurean delights offered at Famous Dave's, I have managed to stop at 4 of them now. It is pleasing to find a chain that actually does barbecue well, and Famous Dave's does just that.

The tough thing about this job is not eating too much. I sit all day, for as long as 11 hours. When I stop there is not always time or a place to exercise. I've put on over 40 pounds in 5 years.

Regarding good barbecue, I kept seeing billboards for Sonny's Real Pit Barbecue. When I found myself stuck down in Florida a few years ago I noticed one down the street. So when dinner time rolled around I walked on over to give it a go.

I was so disappointed!

The meat was so dry it could have been used to soak up Lake Superior. The cornbread was just as bad, dry, crumbly, it just fell to pieces when I tried to butter it.

I usually will have a beer with a meal when dining out (if I am done driving for the day of course).

It took 4 beers to wash that dried out crap at Sony's.

The hociR can have it all.
Never had a bad meal at a Famous Dave's location... Another chain you might like is Dickey's Barbecue Pit - never a bad one there either. All over the country, and there's one in S. Everett if you want to give it a try. And they even have fried okra, which is far too rare around here...

Everett? I'll have to look them up!

Thanks!

Anything to thwart the mighty hociR!

That's almost Mill Creek or Lynnwood down there. Or maybe Mukilteo! I know the four cities have been having turf wars rezoning and trying to expand their tax base for years.

It can be tough to find.

Used to be a place in downtown Everett called Alligator Soul, they had it. Hush puppies too. Real ones.

Well, you'll have to describe what you're calling "real hush puppies". Cuz I've seen some places serve "hush puppies" that were more like hoe-cakes...

A ball of cornbread, deep fried.

You should know that, you're from there.

I've come across places that make them that look like little fingers or sausages, and then they over cook them.

Yuk!

*I* know what real hush puppies are, but there are some places that pass off all sorts of cornbread based stuff as hush puppies when they just ain't.

Speaking of, now I'm gonna have to take the kids to a fish fry place for fried catfish.

It is no wonder that the K3 is not selling like hotcakes: all the potential buyers are too busy with other sorts of cakes, involving corn, bacon, okra, and who-knows-what-else.

Catfish. My favorite. First fish I ever caught was a cat. Fish.

When I went to St. Joe, Missouri for Altec factory training years ago we went out for breakfast, dinner and lunch every day.

I had catfish for lunch and dinner every day and different every time. I even found a Mexican place that served it.

Mmmmmm!!!!!!! Tasty!
