Chickens? My Wife adores chickens, and we have about 125 chicken statues in the kitchen. On the top of the oven cabinet, on the window jamb at the sink, on top of the refrigerator. Pretty sure she has spent more on chicken shxx over the past ten years than I have spent on lenses. Note: She is from Iowa and grew up with pet hens.

With a caribou or seal killed at -40F, there are no easy parts. But no need for an electric refrigerator.

Normally with seal the whole carcass is brought back to town and then thawed and butchered. But if it's really cold, the hunters will cut out the fresh liver and share it like we would candy. I've seen hunters then complain they are almost too warm in all the gear. The liver is so rich in iron that it almost instantly warms a person with long-lasting effect.

The wife's favourite treat if we get a caribou is the head. The whole head, skinned and roasted. Even if she doesn't get a friend over, it's stripped down to bone in 30 to 40 minutes. Eyes, crispy cartilage from the ears, brain, tongue - the whole thing. It's like watching a very hungry Pirahhna.

Then she complains all evening that she ate too much. Go figure.

I've had halibut head. All but the eyes. Gave them to the Japanese chef who prepared the head as a thank you gift.

That way I didn't have to refuse them.
