What? A woman playing golf?

When did all this change?

Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden.

Pasture Pool will never be the same!

Afford?

They come free, more or less. It is that maintenance and upkeep that will do you in.

And now there is the tattoo . . . . . . . . .

Racer, one cool thing I have discovered with the K3 is its ability to AF in virtual darkness. At ISO3200, you can photograph any tattoo in the dark!

That would come in very handy for those "candid" shots.

Looked more like a crack shot to me. Was going to go golfing once, but they wouldn't let me take my shotgun.

Now THAT is fun! But it takes some serious reflexes!

I've never understood the appeal of the sport. Maybe it's something to do with the whiskey.

Golf isn't really sport. It's an activity. There is no head to head competition in golf. It's not even as sporting as shuffle board. It's not like curling where you knock the others guys stones out of the circle. There's no full contact golf. The fact that you walk around with four other guys, most of the time they aren't even your main competition in a tournament. Watching it is worse than televised shuffle board. There is nothing in golf that suggests it's even a competition, except the endless , mindless drivel spouted by the announcers.

What does it take to be a sport? An opponent who is actively doing something to stop you from achieving your objective, besides farting as loud as he can while you wind up for your Tee shot.

Think Tennis, a guys serves balls at your body at 110 MPH. Or football, a big guy launches his 320 pound body at your head. Or hockey, a 200 pound guy tries to squish you against the boards going 25 miles an hour. Even in baseball, the other team is actively trying to take way everything you do. In golf, it's mostly walking around with a dazed look on your face. We don't even see real golf. The golf with the real money. A friend of mine who tended bar in a wealthy Toronto golf club saw millions of dollars in deals closed every day. What these golfer are making is peanuts. The real money in golf is made in the clubhouse after the "activity" and a few drinks have been consumed. There in lies golf's real purpose. To loosen up the movers and shakers for some real action. Remarkably, that hasn't made it to reality TV yet.

Blasphemy, putting golf in the same category as whiskey! What's next?
Drinking wine from a can

I never thought about it that way, but you're eight. Nothing that one player does has any direct effect on another player's game. Even in pool, how you leave the queue ball affects the next person's shot.

This would also apply to track and field athletics and to swimming. (With the exception perhaps of longer races where tactics play a bigger part).

Golf is an outdoor equivalent to competiton darts, other than the more comlplex and arcane Golf rule book.

In golf one plays against the course. The final outcome has nothing to do with how well one played and everyting to do with how well the other(s) played. That's a double-negative way to keep score, I'd say. I won because I lost by less than the other guys lost.

Also, on a QWERTY keyboard, an 'F' is next to a 'D' so Golf is easily mischaracterized as Gold. I have never made money playing Golf. However, one year in the early 80's I made more money throwing darts than I earned as W-2 Income.

In darts, an 'F' is next to a 'D'. Don't go there.
