The original Singlex* was a few years earlier than the song, but history repeating itself is maybe not a bad idea.
Edit: Introduced a few years earlier (1962), but apparently still in the Ricoh line when the song was released in 1966. I was eleven at the time.

* Cooperative venture by Ricoh and Mamiya and equipped with an F-mount Rikenon normal lens. It was essentially the same as the Mamiya-made Nikkorex-F. The two cameras came out of the same factory. One of the cool things about this history line is that the Copal "square" shutter continued to be a component of both the Singlex and Nikkormat lines into the 1970s.
