It's more likely a lutefisk or pickled herring deficiency.

But the Sears branded TLS is so much better. It has a stylized SR on the prism hump that looks like an atomic butterfly

That is a deficiency that will continue.

I see the Zest is made from water (Aqua = water, for those who aren't bi-lingual!!) How do they get it to stay in a bar shape?

Better yet ... how 'bout that vroom-vroom 17 NAPcar shape ???

Which wears off first ... the tires (or "tyres" for the bi-lingual) or the letters/"Zest" name.

Anyone with some real life experience here ... ?

The tyres, no doubt.

That "Zest" etching looks almost as deep as the "hociR" etching on my cheek, and my real life experience says that one is impossible to wear off.

Let that be a warning to those feeling tempted to buy a K-3.

"OK" for the ti(y)res ... I can see that, plus the rear spoiler thing, too.

So ... when you look in a mirror you see ... (gasp) ... "Ricoh" ?!

That's how it is

However, I have discovered that this is actually not a newfangled idea implemented by our new overlords.

They are just following up a tradition started way back by the Asahi Optical Co.

It came as quite a shock to me.

I suppose I should be glad the mark of the hociR is as small as it is.

It could have been so much worse.

Just the thought of it...

I've never had a hociR but I have a KSSuper and Auto Sears 50/2 on the desk in front of me.

FWIW, there is no branding on the camera - only on the lens (phew).

If the name Ricoh is removed form the camera will we hear Asahi of relief? I didn't realize that simply putting a name on a camera could start a hociR Hurricane. And for you ecclesiastical types does this thread violate some sort of Canon Law? Hopefully there will some Sony days ahead so we can get back to taking pictures.

Now, now ... as it's been mentioned before, Leitz not get carried away. (All together now: 1, 2, 3, groan )

PS - I'm gonna Leica your post ... it's an almost bright Sony day here in France, a Civil Law country; not Canon Law like in the UK et al ...

How about people who pay money to watch men hit a ball with a stick and when nothing happens (no hitter) that is what they call great.
