Sure looked like geoducks to me, but then we don't see a lot of either in the middle of the prairie.

Because you don't live in my town. I guess those of us in the Portland, Oregon area are lucky in that we are within a few hundred miles of some major cattle ranching and that there is an established market for quality foods. There is a grocer down the hill from me that has beautiful beef from Painted Hills Ranch in Eastern Oregon at competitive prices ($4.99 for sirloin on special this week). If I have my doubts, for the price of an afternoon's drive I can see the grass and the cattle at the same time!*

But then, in the prairie, there's always prairie oysters.

I had bacon and a banana for breakfast, along with coffee. I'm out of eggs.

Yes...razor clams are polite. Geoducks, on the other hand, are a tool of the hociR!

Safeway's buyers probably aren't local to where you are. They accept pre-cut, boxed, slushed beef at their regional warehouse where the buyer sits - then they deliver it to their stores. They also probably don't have a full-cut butcher shop behind the counter - just a further-dress operation where they finish and wrap the bulk-processed cuts they receive from the warehouse.

Fun fact. If McDonalds didn't import beef they alone would consume over 20% of the US beef production.

Are they like some oysters I ate once a little further west.

The only proper way to grow beef is to send it for a walk in the grass and then round it up a year or two later when it is time to put it in the big truck. I looks after itself a fair bit. Fancy keeping them in a shed and letting them get fat and flabby and full of those bad fatty things. I like my beef fairly lean so I can enjoy the beef and reassure myself I am eating a health food, good for iron and protein and general tonic.

Why I won't buy a K-3 - even at these prices . . . . .

Reported:
  • asahi man supposedly posted elsewhere a certain big deal camera is now 'in production'
  • a post was recently made to a thread on the FF Forum that The Princesses are 'Discontinued' at Digital Rev
  • K-3 prices at major Dealers have declined 15% in two weeks
I just received 2 cases of Youth Group Cheesy-Bacon flavored Microwave Popcorn

  1. Be strong. Don't fall for deal pricing on hociR
  2. Cheesy-Bacon popcorn. They don't make pickled herring popcorn or I would have.
Whatever. I didn't say that word.

I just realized that we're coming up on the first anniversary of this thread. We should have a party; or at least a cake.
