Mine is in a week to Europe. Besides, immoral? Nah, he did it to himself.

The rest of you eating bugs. You can keep those. I think I'd rather have lutefisk than bugs.

I will try a lot of things, but I will not eat bugs. I'll eat anything edible that comes out of the sea, I'll eat virtually any edible part of a mamal, fish, amphibian, crustacean, or snake; but I won't, on purpose, eat a bug.

Can we enshrine "no bugs" on the thread description or are we out of space?

---------- Post added 11-14-14 at 06:58 PM ----------

I am thinking "Pentax K-3" is kind of irrelevant and could be replaced by "No bugs for human consumption." I don't mind macro shots of critters that look like they were stars in "Alien" movies. Just saying. Do not want crickets sautéed with my iguanq and lutefisk.

I've eaten snake, gator, eel and snails. That's about as far as I am going on that score. I'm honestly very picky when it comes to my food and while I like some things that a lot of people can't stand I don't like a lot of things that are very popular. I don't like most poultry except for chicken, cornish hen, and turkey now and again. I love pork, but I'm picky about what cuts. Adore bacon, and ham, and white meat pork, but I'm not so crazy about darker cuts of pork loin meat or darker ribs and will avoid them if I can. I'm the same way about dark meat chicken/turkey. I don't like it dark.

The only way I eat animal innards is inside the occasional polish sausage or hot dog and even then I don't want to think about that too hard lest it spoil my meal, laugh. I don't do lamb or mutton or whatever it is that they call goat. I have had rabbit once as a child but as an adult I choose not to eat them or squirrels and such because I like them as pets and given that I just cannot go there. Needless to say I don't do guinea pig either.

When it comes to shellfish I don't eat clams, oysters, scallops, mussels, and such. I might take a bite of lobster but I prefer pink and red shrimp. I can eat the brown ones too but the tiger shrimp are strictly off limits for me as they can make me very ill. They have some natural chemical in the shells and meat that most pink and red shrimp don't. Some people are sensitive and apparently I am one of them. I like crab but again I have to watch which crab I eat. Blues don't bother me and neither does King Crab, but Dungeness crab really doesn't agree with me at all. The couple of times I had it I loved it but I lived to regret it. Again, it made me very ill.

I didn't mind the gator or the snake, but I wouldn't do it again. I didn't like the snails or the eel at all. No way I'd do bugs. Not even if I was starving, and I mean that. I'd eat roots or whatever first. :P

Please get back to us when this year's Polar Vortex hits and all that is left is Jimminy. He'll look mighty tasty when all the lutefisk is gone.

I'm sorry that I mentioned the gentlemen's game of cricket; it has taken the focus of this thread right off topic.

They're eating' 'em

Sautéed Crickets
Serves 4 – 6
Ingredients:
1-2 cups crickets
¼ cup butter
3 cloves garlic
¼ cup chopped scallions
Directions:
Melt butter, add garlic and scallions and sauté for several minutes.

Of course, bacon fat can substitute for butter.
Anything will be palatable with enough butter (or bacon grease).

This is PentaxForums.com's version of Seinfeld. "The thread about nothing."

Reminds me of a short set of statements I once heard:

Cricket: A gentleman's game played by gentlemen

Rugby: A hooligan's game played by gentlemen

Soccer (Football): A hooligan's game played by hooligans

I don't know where Hockey or American/Canadian Football fall into the spectrum.

Well, hockey is a hooligan's game, played by hooligans, and celebrated by hooligan fans.

Who came up with the idea of calling that game "football" anyway, when the players' feet are used solely for moving about (with a very few exceptions), and there are certainly no balls involved at all!

True. And shrimps are nothing more than the cockroaches of the sea.

Especially if you're talking about the Oakland Raiders.
