Ford makes some very reliable vehicles. Besides, Ford had no part in the RX vehicles. That remained all Mazda. Otherwise, we'd be seeing rotary Mustangs or something, lol.

I actually like Ford cars despite the countless Ford jokes around. I used to want their diesel-powered Focus.

However, I'll never forgive Ford for almost completely destroying the Mazda market here in the Philippines, undermining the prices of Mazda cars ensuring that latter would never be able to successfully compete with them. For several years, Mazda was on the brink of death here. It's only now, after the Ford era, that we are starting to see Mazda compete again.

That's probably drawing too long a bow - not that I would mind!! (as long as I don't have to pay the exorbitant freight costs from the land of the free to the land down under - Oh alright, for a free lens I could do it, I guess).

The diesel engine in Fords basically come from the PSA group - Peugeot and Citroen. Basically French designed diesels. Same with the Fiesta diesels.

I bought a K-3 a few weeks back "Prestige Edition", its such a huge leap over my K-5: Better-faster-stronger-stablerer. The Ricoh logo doesn't really bother me at all. I guess if I owned a Nikon, and Mitsubishi put "Mitsubishi" on the back, it wouldn't bother me at all. They're just parent companies.

Ford and Mazda had a partnership form 1979 to 2010. My 1994 Escort had a Mazda engine and transmission in it and that is why I will never buy a Mazda.

Just FYI - Diesel in 2008 was 77.3% of all French vehicles - 31.5 million passenger cars - 5.9 commercial - 0.9 industrial ... Parc automobile français ? Wikipédia

I have never had a gas car in France until we bought a Dacia Sandero for my wife to go to work in ... it's a dual gas & LPG vehicle and she almost never fills it with gasoline. LPG reservoir takes the place of the spare tire and no trailer hitch possible.

Purchased it several years ago due to a very nice governmental "rebate scheme" where we retired a very old diesel econo-box that was sent to the scrap heap despite being in very good shape ... one less diesel on the road, I guess.

My wife has a Miata. She loves it. Size wise it's fine for her, and I can drive it comfortably, but it would need about 2 more inches of leg room on the passenger side for me to ride long distances comfortably.
