I used to do that with Zoe. She would sit patiently and perfectly still until I would say, "OK!". Then she would flip it up, and snatch it in midair.
Never missed a single one.
People used to tell me it was mean to make her wait.
I always pointed out that she was exercising her ability to obey commands.
Zoe came to me an orphan at 2 weeks. I nursed her (and her 10 litter mates) with goats milk. I was nursing her when her eyes opened, and she imprinted on me as "mom". Every day Zoe was a loyal and dedicated companion. Never apart, not even for a day, for her entire life, she was nearly 15 when she left me.
I miss her every single day.
