I half heard a conversation on a rural radio show today:- The question has been raised that as pork ribs are now dearer than pork shoulder, the aim is for longer pigs (that is, with more ribs!!)
...and a breeder has been working on it for some years.

That reminds me of the story of the guy who's been breeding chickens with four legs as his whole family prefered drumsticks. When asked what they tasted like he said: "Don't know, we haven't managed to catch one yet!"
