Vegans are kinda like mormons, I find. As long as they aren't trying to convert you, they're a pretty nice bunch. And they seem quite sane compared to their über-crazy cousins, the raw folk...
I was tempted to copy and share this to my facebook stream, but I do have many vegan and a few Mormon friends and they are usually very sweet. I have learned that "tastes almost like" or "tastes better than" really means that it will probably not make you gag and may even be pleasant in the mouth, but that any resemblance is usually in appearance alone and even then you may have to squint a little.

(...has a few FB friends who are vegan, no carbs, no wheat, raw only, and highly excitable by any food-related rumor...)

(...had a particularly unpleasant experience with sugar-free vegan pumpkin pie a few years back...)

Sorry. Let me rephrase. If it is animal product that involved the animal being killed prior to consumption, vegetarians won't eat it. So things like eggs, dairy and honey are OK.

As for vegetables?
They eat fresh water shrimp live in Thailand. Does that count?

I've seen this play out many times. in hunting culture's the best hunters of course have great respect. IN Cherokee culture, you had to leave game on your prospective brides doorstep each morning for a year, so her family had time to check out your ability to provide fresh meat.

So, every now and then I'd turn up at the local (cree) sweat lodge with a vegetarian lasagne for the potluck. I remember the elder's son looking at it and saying "That's almost blasphemy around here."

The vegetarian Hekawi tribe left veggies at the door.
F-Troop, man I loved that show!

Now you have me trying to remember "How did the Hekawi tribe get their name?"
Well we were lost one day and someone said 'Where the heck are we..

I can't remember if that was actually in one of the episodes or it was a joke someone made up.

I remember the original, not show related, joke as being Fukawi tribe.

Just researched, knew Forrest had passed, Ken Berry is 81, Larry Storch is 92, and Wrangler Jane was 16 when she joined the show.
It ran from 1965 to 1967, I was in my late teens then, probably why I thought ti was so funny.

That's right. All airlines care about is making money. Lots and lots of money. Huge piles of money. Piles of money larger than the building where the airplanes are built.

Huge.

Piles.

Of.

Money.

The.

Heck.

With.

Passengers.

Luggage.

Carry.

On.

Or.

Otherwise.

They can always buy stuff at their destination, right?
