I dunno. Let's talk about cricket. Isn't it cool that after only four days...

Shall I stop now, do you surrender?

How did we get into a Dutch/Africaans language discussion.

(Well I suppose it is better than a cricket discussion at the moment!)

I'm going to hear about the cricket when I get my new job. Unless there is an improvement at Lords. Reminds me of the 1985 series. One of my classmates and I decided we should ring up and offer our services as batsmen - we could not do worse than the ducks being scored by the ones being paid to be batsmen.

Norm, there are anaesthetics, analgesics, and aspirin for physical pain: there is no such relief for this thread.
(except possibly an induced coma!)
This thread can be consumed stone cold sober only. Fortunately that doesn't apply to post writing...

Why do we have to put up with Watto?
We are in trouble: Rhino retired with his bad knees, Starc looking proppy with an ankle, Johnson passed his best. Our bowling is in trouble. Our batting? brittle!
Discussion CLOSED.

Sorry Rod! As this thread often gravitates toward bacon, this is probably a good time to mention that bacon is "spek" in both Dutch and Afrikaans!

When I was kid my family was given a jar of pickles by a German neighbor, and from then on we used to enjoy teasing her about "Zowerkrowt mitt borsht unt shpeck"!

Sauerkraut mit Speck, sure, but Borscht?

In Norwegian "spekk" means blubber - not quite the same, but related.

Is the K-3 blubber resistant?

Tess and I are both part German, she's half, I'm a quarter, but I'm the one that like Oktoberfest sausages and sauerkraut, how is that possible? She should like sauerkraut twice as much as I do.

My wife's heritage is German, her maiden name is Wohlschlaeger (I have to count the letters every time to make sure I have them all).
She dislikes sauerkraut and any form of sausage.
Her dad was a rabbit hunter, she did like her mom's hasenpfeffer.

My husband's heritages is German, Naumann, mine is Irish, Cherokee, probably an ancestor or two that England didn't want and sent to the colonies , ... And a Prussian ancestor, 'Herche or Harche', sent to get rid of the English ancestor that England didn't want and had sent to the colonies. Lol, but I absolutely love saurkraut and cook it several times a month.
