As a German I can testify that any of my compatriots who isn't able to open a bottle of beer in at least 14 different ways (9 for women) without a bottle-opener will immediately have his or her citizenship revoked and will shamefully be exiled to either the Netherlands or Austria.

My wife is Finnish, she knows 27 different ways to open a beer bottle without an opener.

I would join in for Whisky Wednesday, but my bottle of single malt is locked up in my flatmate's room who I gave it to to lighten the dark hours of Scottish summer while I was away, and now that I am back up here she is away. So I cannot get my bottle. Which makes me sad.

I feel your pain young man.

Your wife should be in the Guinness Book or something.

Actually, there are only rare conditions under which I'll drink:
I have to be alone or with somebody and it has to be on a day that ends in y.

[And about a zillion posts in between about (mostly) booze and booze related stuff.]

Women are only expected to know 9? That's sexist!

They are free to know as many as they like, but in Germany men consume about eight times as much beer as women, so it would be unfair to expect the same beer opening skills from both genders

Maybe I should rephrase that... I've seen 27, she likely knows a lot more.
