That would depend on how long ago it was full. Are we talking weeks, days, or hours?

I've never tried that, but I've heard it's good stuff. I'm an Islay, or Speyside fan.

Is fairly phenolic like Ardbeg or Glen Moray?

(Yes, I realize Glen Moray isn't as intense as Ardbeg, Laphroaig, or Lagavulin; but neither is its price.)

I like whisky and notice that one tastes different from another, but that's as far as it goes. I wouldn't even know whether Balvenie is fairly phenolic if I had a clue what that means

Yes. Exactly! Combine that with salt and seaweed and you have Islay malts; or, as I call them, nectar of the gods.
