Originally posted by normhead My first computer wan an Atari 800, I wrote surveying program for my ex-wife that her company wouldn't use when nothing else was available. "It's an Atari." Two years later HP came out with an on board system, that did everything without human input, from transit to plotter. It would have made my software obsolete anyway, but for two years, I coulda been a star.
I'm a retired land surveying crew chief, aka party chief.
Our company was one of the first in the area to get a handheld, battery operated pocket calculator, 4 functions only.
We were in 7th heaven.and showed it off to other surveyors every chance we got.
I retired just when GPS was starting to take over.
A dozen years later and I still often have dreams of being out in the field surveying with "Doc" my late best friend, and a member of my crew.
