Ah, Mrs Racer's bling! (or was it pizzazz? - I forget her word, but I remember from last year, that she doesn't do subtle with Christmas lights)

I check the thread today, and it's turned into a photography thread? Seriously, guys?
Ah, well. I guess I'll just have to join the madness.

In honour of the festive season, I present Jesus, reincarnated as a guitarist in a Norwegian hard rock band:

I recently watched the edited "Fall of the Galactic Republic" (Google it - it's the three prequels edited into one almost-watchable movie), and as much as I despise Jar Jar and all that he stands for, I was horrified to realize that he was one of the better actors in that mess. With only a few exceptions, nobody - nobody in Phantom Menace says a line in a manner that resembles how an actual person would speak.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters.

Sorry, but I cannot hear you over the sounds of lightsabres clashing in an awesome and acrobatic duel instead of a slow and boring one

Yeah, I've heard there's a good fight at the end of Phantom Menace, but I've never been able to stay conscious long enough to see it - the facepalms become more and more violent until I black out.

(Joke - the end fight is the only reason to watch Phantom Menace).

Come on - the pod race? The bigger fishes eating the smaller ones? The Battle of Naboo?

I agree, it's the weakest Star Wars movie. But it's not all bad. And in regards to the prequels in general, The Return of the Sith is amazing.

If thousands could be fed from five loaves of bread and two fish I don't think a few litres of petrol will be of much concern.

Probably not, but there's been a lot of inflation in the past 2,000+ years. We used to spend $15. a week on groceries 50 years ago and now that won't hardly get you a biscuit and piece of fish at Long John Silvers.

I,II,III were the sad result of special effects over plot and character development. Don't get me wrong, I like special effects and CG, but not at the expense of the writing!
My favorite sci fi movie to date is The Martian. Great plot and no bad guy and tasteful effects!

There is also this one, shot with a Russian Industar lens:

Mrs. Racer wants to use it for our Christmas cards this year.
