Well, that second bottle has definitely not gotten any better with "opened" age ... rats.

Still going to finish it and for the third "freebie" bottle, well merde ... that will be for when I get REALLY desperate.

Now on to a few beers ... you know that old saying :

" Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, never had more cheer! "

Well, oui ... it could work for a "boeuf borguignon", I guess. ("Good answer" - Family Feud, of corse with Richard Dawson)

"First beer then wine is fine, but wine then beer, oh dear" is more appropriate here, don't you think?

That is the "truth" in other languages as well.
German: Bier auf Wein, das laß sein. Wein auf Bier, das rat' ich dir.
Norwegian: Vin før øl bilr krøll. Øl før vin gjør fin.

Finnish: Nope, the Finns really don't care - they just drink

Nice. A very popular dish in our household, especially during winter.

Stay drunk.

That's right!

You made that up, didn't you ?!

I knew some Finns through a friend while at the University of Tulsa - they were in petroleum engineering and drank like fish ...

The Norwegians in PE were not far behind ...

Making up a theory on the fly here... It has got do to with the short days during winter - no time to waste, just get plastered as quickly as humanly possible. If you're lucky you'll even forget how miserable life is in winter.

It also has to do with prices of alcoholic beverages over here. Students have to get drunk quickly in order to "save" money.

I'm no zoologist, but how much does a fish really drink?

I thought MD 20/20 was in the same class of alcohol as Everclear. Useful for cleaning.
