Good point.
Even that isn't too worrisome, but if he starts arguing with himself we may need to intervene.
No, no, no! Intervening is dangerous. One or both might turn against us!!

Best to medicate from afar. Blow gun with an elephant shot. (Haldol, Ativan & benadryl.) I personally don't know why we can't still just thorazine them into catatonia. Worked for decades.

I never argue with myself in public - that's just inconsiderate to others.

It's a more complicated formula than that. The future FF photog is N times the photog you are, where:

N= 1.5 * (number of megapixels the fFF has) / (number of MP your camera has) * (weight of fFF) / (weight of your camera) * (list price of their best lens) / (list price of your best lens)

There are some other, fairly minor factors, like years of experience or actual paid work done, but this gives a good first approximation.
Oh ... OK.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I think.

Yep - this was just for APS-C vs FF. The general formula was going to be too wide to fit on the screen. (yes, I started to write it) (facepalm)

It's not really necessary to do such a thing. We all know the correct answer anyway - it is, and will always be, FF. If you have an APS-C (or smaller) bigger is better, and the cost is of no concern. If you pull larger formats into the mix, they are all of a sudden too big, and oooh the cost...

Good luck fitting that into your formula

Why would anyone shoot upside-down with a 645 ?!

And nobody told me that, so I am quite hacked off now ... because there's a 645 in the mail to me with a 55/2.8 and a 150/3.5 plus case.

Where's that wine bottle now ... argh.

What, have you never looked through a waist-level finder?

And no use whining over yesterday's wine!

I was thinking Amytal, but then, maybe hypnotics aren't the best approach.

too big? No such thing to the "more photog than thou" types. We're talking about people who play the "man enough" card (as in "well, if you're not man enough to carry a body with grip and 1kg lens all day for walkaround shooting...").

(yes, I have someone in particular in mind, and no, it wasn't directed at me - I wasn't even in the conversation - but it won them a slot in my BorisCleto'ed™ list, just on principal.)

I beg to differ, mon ami ... one can always wine over yesterday's whine !!!

Especially if you're French, like me ... it's a national sport here.

Wine if in France, beer in Canada, but where Iive in Ontario wine grows more popular every year. I think civilization is finally starting to take hold. Not with me maybe , but clearly with some element of the population.

Beer. Or rather Christmas beer. The one thing that makes this time of year worth while. Brings a bit of happiness in the darkness of winter, one bottle at a time.

Cheers!

And we now know why it was important to know algebra.

That reminds me of a story from years ago.

There was a family living next door to me, one day, my neighbour seeing my camera called me over and said :"I have a camera like that, it's a Minolta."
So of course I politely said "it must be a nice camera.'
He says "ya but Im having a problem with it.'
I said "Oh ya, what's the problem"
He said "It only takes slides, it always costs extra to get pictures."
I said, "You are buying prepaid slide film where the cost of developing is included in the cost as well as the next roll of film, and you're buying slide film not negative film. You have to buy a colour negative type film."
He said "That's what my wife said, but I didn't think she knew anything, she's younger than me."

My head has never stopped shaking. "Huh?"
