So now you're all whiskey purist too?
Whether ice, or water should be added to whiskey at all is no small matter of debate, Generally speaking younger whiskeys( aged 10 or less) tend to be rather "sharp" and the addition if ice or water can help take the harshness out and extend the flavors - which would have been drowned out by the initial flavor notes. There are some who think whiskey shouldn't be chilled at all, it should simply be diluted with water. Some people use scotch stones which are small soapstone cubes that have been chilled in the fridge, and placed in the drink. The idea of the scotch stones is to lower the temperature of the drink without diluting it: but the problem is the stones will smack you in the teeth when you lift your glass.

I was gifted some of those stones, never used them though, I like ice.
Fresh ice with each drink, small pour, sip, enjoy!
My taste buds are not as refined as others I guess.

Same. I prefer just ice with my Scotch.

Recently I have really gotten into Courvoisier Cognac, I was given a bottle of it for my 30th..but having said that I still enjoy my scotch whisky, i'm currently half way through a bottle of Talisker.

Mabel is only 10 weeks old, but she may need a new bed cover soon.

Talking of 'whiskey purists', (real) scotch whisky is spelled without the 'e'.
You are welcome.

Courvoisier is some pretty good stuff. As for Scotch; I'm a fan of the Islay malts.
Okay, back to Cognac. If you want to duplicate the taste of Hennessy cognac; pour some cheap brandy in a glass and add a liberal amount of ground black pepper.

The inclusion of the E in whiskey largely depends on where the whisky is from.

I wasn't talking Scottish, I have trouble speaking English after a few bourbons.
