My oldest son used to sleep with his eyes open...it was so weird! They would jerk and spin at times, I assumed he was dreaming.

Yeah, our tree-living ancestors were able to dream without falling out, according to the theory. Maybe that's been overturned by newer research. Like Vitamin C does nothing for colds, stomach ulcers aren't to do with diet and can be fixed up with antibiotics, etc etc.

He was the soundest sleeper I have ever seen. Along with my youngest son, we played the dirtiest tricks on him, waking him up only shortly after he had gone to sleep and yelling that he was late for school, watching him get dressed in a confused state.....then laughing like crazy. Sadistic stuff. We did it many times until Mrs Rupert caught us and ended our fun.

Now that you're paying for all his therapy, I hope you regret those stunts, James!

I wholeheartedly agree Jim. Just think, where would this world be without the most wonderful gift of imagination.


Everything we know would not exist.


No cars.


No houses with central heating and cooling.


No refrigerators.


No ovens.


None of the many and varied 'modern' conveniences that we take for granted today would be available to us.

We wouldn't even have cameras.


So a K3 would be out of the question.

As I understood it, in true REM the brainstem turns off motor movement, which is why horses lie down for that bit. The idea presumably is that so we don't jump off the bed to get away from the monster chasing us.

Yep, that's how it should work, but there is a number of sleep disorders where that mechanism fails.

He was curious as to what you wanted his photo for.......he guessed it might be for the cover of TIME mag......or one of those ads in the back of magazines promising "Otis Virility" to those lacking......

You do know you have to get me that so I can use it too!

You earned this...keep it safe for the time when Otis calls for his Awards and gives out prizes.....it's no joke! This one, the Citizen Squirrel Award is worth 10 times any other award...so it is very valuable!




You know, maybe I was wrong in defending Otis. After all that everyone did for him, in particular Jim and Adam.....you would think he would be a little more humble and thankful just to be alive here at PForums?

However, I caught him just in time after he saw your wonderful Otis Appreciation Seal about to send a PM to Adam asking that it be required on every post by every poster here at PForums........Apparently you can't give a damn inch to a squirrel or they will demand a mile. I had a little talk with him, and explained that maybe we won't be around for him next time he needs help unless he learns to appreciate what he already has.

Yep ... that was a pretty good album.

Not getting into religion.....but we once were visiting a distant town when it was Easter Sunday...and Mrs Rupert insisted that we attend a Church for Sunday services. Our two little boys were against the idea and so was I ...but we took a vote and Mrs Rupert won by a minority of one.

Everything seemed fine, the music and choir were very normal and fairly good. The preacher seemed like what we were used to, and all the people looked and were dressed perfectly reasonable. As the sermon progressed a woman..then a man...sitting next to my kids jumped up and began speaking in "tongues" loud and clear! First the youngest was up and out the door like a jackrabbit, followed on his heels by the older one.....followed by Mrs Rupert chasing them, and me exiting on the other side of the aisle.

The kids thought it was some kind of cult thing and they were the target of whatever came next.......Mrs Rupert knew what it was but it did not fit her doctrine...and I was relieved to get out early and go eat lunch before the crowds arrived.
