Old saying: "A man marries a woman hoping she'll never change. A woman marries a man hoping he will."
I always heard this saying as she plans to change him.

I am surprised Rupert hasn't changed his title to Master of Squirrels. We all know he pulls the strings behind the scenes.
I'm surprised as well...

Or change it to:
Controlled by Otis

@Rupert do you know how?

Mrs Rupert was blindsided.....I could walk a straight line, be a perfect gentleman, and when she met my parents and two sisters she was no doubt certain that this "is the perfect guy". Little did she know....
With her, I knew in advance of her "Church girl" status and so had no excuse when it turned out to be as real as it appeared. It took a long time to work it out.
Her temper was even worse than mine, and it is a wonder we didn't get violent. Still not sure just how we finally molded together, but we did.

Nowadays if she/he wears the wrong clothes, gets the wrong haircut, or spends on the wrong things....the first option seems to be the divorce lawyer? Times have changed.

Mrs Rupert loves Velveeta and bacon.....even Spam every so often.....maybe that is the secret to a happy relationship?

Regards!

I think the secret to a good relationship is communication, in particular, a LACK of communication. The less I open my mouth, the better my relationships seem to go.

Same. The way I know it, a woman goes into a relationship expecting him to change, but he doesn't. A man goes into a relationship believing she will never change, but she does.

Marriages. Looks like M and I will make it to 50 years with very little contention between us (except the daily dispute over where we'll walk the dog that day). Some observations. 1) You and your partner should be best friends before you are lovers. 2) You should be happy together doing anything, everything, and nothing. 3) It's easier to share a bed than a checkbook, and easier to share a checkbook than a desk. 4) Neither partner is allowed to think they are giving more than they are getting, ever. 5) Neither partner should enter a marriage thinking they can eventually change what they perceive as flaws or annoying quirks in the other.
#2 did it for us. More or less...

We were realistic from the day one and never thought along the lines of getting/being changed by other.

"Jane Hurley, senior nutritionist at the Center for Science in the Public Interest in Washington, D.C., stated she's "never heard of anything worse."

"They've taken fat, they've double-coated it in fat, they've fried it in more fat, and then they've served it with a side order of fat."

Okay, it is now on my to do list !!
